The only thing missing from my 3G travel router is an ‘all you can eat’ data plan. I want to use my ZTE MF60 and Option XYFI travel routers for watching movies using my LOVEFILM account but the biggest 3g mobile broadband dataplan I could get was the three.co.uk 15Gb mobile data plan which can easily be used for media rich browsing on the go. I did discover this week that my three.co.uk one plan sim which provides all you can eat data when used in a smartphone worked in my Option XYFI travel router so I am using that for the time being and see what happens. This One Plan SIM card does not work in my ZTE MF60, neither does it work in my embedded 3G router at home which is still stuck with a 15Gb plan, so I also use my Option XYFI travel router at home and am tempted to plug it into a Zoom 4501 router.

I also recently saw an advertisement from a company called Giff Gaff who were offering a SIM card with unlimited Data but have not tried their service yet – but assume is is based upon the three mobile network because they have lots of MVNO partners.  I guess that as demand grows for unlimited data sims then the increased competition will give us more choice in the future.

I have been using my ZTE MF60 Travel Router for a couple of weeks now and have been impressed. Most of the time I am getting an average of 10Mbps download speeds with the highest speed of 11.78Mbps. The ZTE MF60 4G Travel Router is great on long car journey’s – my young son can connect using his iPOD and easily use you tube and other online content, whilst my wife watches Love Fiml streaming movies on the iPAD.

It keeps them both quiet and I can just switch off the radio and drive in peace and quiet for the 4 hour drive up north. It always seem uphill when you drive from London to Yorkshire up the A1, and then a bit downhill over the border into Lancashire. By the way – did you know that the M62 motorway at saddleworth moor (think Myra Hindley) is the highest motorway in England.

Becuase most of my travelling was along motorways and both Love Film and BBC iPlayer have pretyy good streaming buffers and fairly low bandwidth requirements there was no movie downtime.

The ZTE MF60 did not even require any intial configuration to get connected. I simply inserted my contract three.co.uk mobile broadband SIM card and after switching on (and then swicthing off and taking a photo of the WiFi password underneath the battery and replacing the battery and switching back on) I was able to connect my iPhone to the internet without any additional configuration. I configured the WiFi settings using the Safari web browser on my iPhone and have not had to go into the configuration pages since.

My brother in law has told me he has purchased one since he saw mine and he useshis in the car, at home and also his house in France when he stays there.

What more can I say, the ZTE MF60 is a simple to use, great value, super fast and future proofed 4G modem / Travel router and would recommend that you buy one.
